I picked Tim up at 4:30am last night and then we went on a mad search for McDonald’s breakfast.  A delicious treat I don’t think I have had in months and months.  We checked out two 24 hour McDonald’s in Halifax but the power was out in both.  But nothing can stop me when I have a food craving so we went to a McDonald’s in Dartmouth.  Those 2 breakfast burritos were delicious!  I have to pick Tim up again this morning at 4:30am – maybe a repeat

I am watching a show on TLC about a guy addicted to burgers.  Wonder if they are interested in doing a story on a woman addicted to popcorn?  Because I know such a woman …

I am so happy that tomorrow is a holiday!  I am actually taking this Friday off as well so it will be a super short week for me! I also get to see my baby sis on Thursday for the first time since May.  She was a counselor at a summer camp in the US all summer and just got home.  And she is back to university in the US this weekend too so I am glad to have a chance to see her.

We did have one Earl casualty.  When Tim was on the balcony the wind blew his glasses right off his face!  Which was pretty funny.  And even funnier was that it ad happened to a friend of his during the last hurricane.  He ran outside to look for them but rocks were actually being blown around so he came inside as it was a bit dangerous.  When the winds died down, we went out to look again and I found them!  However, one of the lenses was missing, the other had a giant scratch and the frames were mangled.  He’s going to bring them back to the eye doctor and tell her that the fit on them just doesn’t feel right (lol we have a great relationship with our eye doctor, she’s about our age).

I drove Tim to the hospital and wow – it is dark and scary out with all the street lights out!  I’ll be going to pick him up ay 4:30am too.   Good wife award goes to me.

I was all stocked up for the storm and just in case the power went out, I didn’t really get anything that goes in the fridge – like produce.  So we ate some interesting meals today of KD (I put garlic powder in mine since I was a kid – try it – it’s amazing) and beans and buttered bread.

Off to sleep a bit in this cooler weather

I am so excited to have 3 days off with no plans (the impending hurricane made me cancel all my plans just in case).  Poor Tim works Saturday and Sunday – but his hours are something like 9pm-4am so I get him all day.  He’ll be working the emergency room of the hospital so if Earl sends you there, ask for him

I am trying to plan out my weekend and so far I have 2 plans going.

Plan A (power remains on):

• Do laundry.
• Watch Buffy – a work friend gave me the 1st season to watch and I am trying to make my way through it.  I’ve gotten through 5 episodes and frankly, I’m not impressed so far.  But I’ve heard it gets better and so many people like it so I am going to try it some more.
• Clean the apartment.
• Bake cookies – I hate baking but I really want some chocolate chip cookies

Plan B (no power):

• Play on my computer until it is dead.
• Play on Tim’s computer until it is dead.
• Play on my BlackBerry until it is dead.
• Play on Tim’s iPhone 4 until it is dead.
• Go out to eat.
• Sleep a lot.

I hope people have more exciting plans than me (and are more prepared for the storm – I am so spoiled living downtown that I don’t need to worry about water or food).

My work, however, is freezing!  30 degrees Celsius outside, but I have my heater turned on all day at my desk.  There is something very wrong with that.  And very limiting in what I can wear.  I wear sweaters everyday.  And pants.  So the same wardrobe for summer as for winter.  That is wrong.

Tim is off helping a friend move and I am having oven fries for dinner (lunch was a giant salad).  Hoping to watch some more True Blood – we are part way through episode 3 of season 3.  My back up plan is to play some old school Mario on the Wii.

I currently hear bagpipes very loudly behind my apartment.  Hali is great! (I mean that in a non-sarcastic way – however, if the bag pipes are still playing at 10pm make that sarcastic).

I had a lovely relaxing weekend and made vegetarian enchiladas and apple crisp yesterday, so I am eating leftovers today

My computer also decided to act up so I have to use Tim’s spare laptop until I decide what to do.  I can’t afford a new computer so I am thinking of commandeering this one to make due.  But that means I have lost all my blogs.  Which may be a good thing as reading blogs (even without commenting) has consumed too much of my life for the last few years.

Not much else is new with me … and I like it that way!

It is the weekend and I intend to sleep, grocery shop and cook all day tomorrow.

I get to spend Sunday morning with the lovely Lynn at the Incredible Picnic and Sunday afternoon with my favourite little man, Cameron.

I organized an ice cream social at work that was a big success.  Yes, I am part of my work’s social committee.  I am a dork.

I still keep up with a lot of blogs but I haven’t been commenting.  And my lack of posts is astonishing.  But the more free time I now have away from the computer is amazing!  Whether it is just spending cuddle time with Tim or enjoying the summer weather, I have really been enjoying all my extra time.

We ate chips and popsicles, played in a sandbox, played frisbee and ball and watched some Spiderman.  Then we went for a walk to get some ice cream, which he proceeded to wear as a beard.  So cute.

I have really been enjoying my vacation time.  But my allergies have been going nuts!  My eyes are so itchy and watery.  My left eye is pretty much crying all the time.  I hate to say it, but I wish for some rain!

Friday afternoon I celebrated with a long nap.  Then Tim and I went to the driving range to hit some balls, then to Value Village where I got some sweaters (you get the best clothes there when you shop the off-season racks).  We then hit up Montana’s for dinner.  I got 3/4 a rack of ribs with coleslaw, mashed potatoes with gravy and cornbread.  I almost licked my plate clean it was so good!  Tim got the all you can eat ribs – so we ate 2.5 racks of ribs!  (Plus all his sides).  Holy moly can that man eat!  And he is a skinny guy too!

I spent yesterday getting groceries, cleaning the apartment and watching bad movies on W Channel (i.e. Must Love Dogs, etc.).  Today I plan on doing lots of laundry (maybe) and just relaxing with Tim, who is finally home after a 30 hour call shift (so he might actually be in bed all day).

I want to spend this week off doing as little as possible.
