Colin has 3 new favourite things:
1. Pulling Daddy’s hair and all around making him his bitch.
2. His own feet.
3. His “Nuby” teether.
And yes, he is not wearing pants in any of the pictures. That is how we roll in this family.

Did I mention that we bought a second car?
We had planned to sometime before next March, when I am back to work in Halifax with Colin and Tim is still in Moncton and commuting on weekends becomes mandatory. A great opportunity came up to buy a friend’s parents car and we took it. The good news is the car is all-wheel drive (essential for NB winters) and fits our stroller no problem. The bad news is it is a station wagon. And it has faux wood on the interior.
When did we get so old? The funny part is the husband, who is a car nut, is the one who wanted it and is super psyched about it. We are one step away from a mini-van …
We had to drive an hour and a half to get it – so Colin and I drove home together in the Matrix while Tim drove the Subaru. It went relatively well, except for the last 10 minutes which consisted of Colin screaming because he dropped his sookie and me singing kids songs at the top of my lungs in attempt to soothe him while simultaneously reaching around and trying to pat his head and drive a standard. Fun.
Here’s a picture of the boy.

I am the luckiest Momma in the world because I get to stay home and play with this happy little guy all day
Isn’t he the most beautiful baby?
He makes me so happy.
And he is super cute too.
Always smiling and laughing.
Except when he gives the super pout
Things are great with me and I may be resuming regular blogging now that we are all settled in the new place and Colin is finally giving me more than 4 hours of sleep a night!

Colin was born at 5:06 am April 3rd. 7 pounds 2.8 ounces and 20 3/4 inches long. It was a very difficult birth and I have complications resting from what happened, but I’ll save that story for another day. The important thing is that Colin is perfect and healthy. And I am more in love with my wonderful supportive husband than ever.
Colin is very blond.
And very cute – here is his first bath at home.
He can also get really angry – like when Mommy and Daddy dress him in silly outfits to bring him home.
I am so in love with my boys!

Yup, I’m still pregnant.
The magical 40 weeks due date is only a median – in reality, the average length of a 1st time pregnancy is 41 weeks and 1 day, not 40 weeks. So I may have a bit of a wait yet. And yes, I am getting impatient
And now a rant. This is absolutely not directed to any blog or twitter friends – I love you guys!
I have stopped answering my phone. Because people like to call 3 times a day and ask where the baby is. Um, if I could get the baby out now I would. And if the baby was here you would know. Until then, I am not answering the phone, replying to texts, responding to emails/Facebook messages whose entire content is, “Any baby news yet?”*
I am also not seeking any recommendations on how to get the baby out. The baby is NOT overdue yet. It will only be overdue at 42 weeks, and I will be induced sometime between 41 and 42 weeks if the baby is not here by then. So as much as castor oil is suggested, no way will I jeopardize the health of my baby and myself just to get him/her out. It is dangerous, people!
End rant. I’m off to make some oven fries
* Luckily, lots of friends write me actual emails that are not just attempts to get the scoop on the baby. I reply to those people

So I am 39 weeks and a bit now and finally feeling better. That cold really hit me hard, and it didn’t help that the husband was sick too. We are both better now and he is on leave too. Yay! I’ve been sleeping a lot and not doing much else. I’m in baby waiting mode:) Since 75% of 1st babies come after the due date, it may be a long wait. But it is nice to have this time by myself and with Tim.
Tonight I rented Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse and plan to have a mini-movie marathon while Tim is out for wings and beer. I was not able to entice Tim into watching any of these movies (although he did read Twilight – I think it was out of desperation for English books to read when we were in Europe a couple years ago because he didn’t read any of the other books in the series).
I fell out of nesting mode last week being sick and the apartment is still a mess. Hopefully I’ll get the urge again tomorrow

And, yet again, I am sick. I have gotten cold after cold during this pregnancy. Luckily, I am already on mat leave so I don’t have to deal with work along with being sick. But Tim got sick at the exact same time. We are really hoping that baby stay in until 40 weeks – and as most 1st time babies are born past the due date … keep your fingers crossed for us! Tomorrow is Tim’s last day at work. It’s exciting to know that he will be home with me (and then us) until July.
I’ve figured out how to deal with my heart burn – no fruit or veggies. It’s the only way that I can get any sleep and be comfortable. That said, I am currently eating carrots. I’m hoping if I stick to “mild” veggies I’ll be okay. I’ve learned that all fruit makes me burn, as do tomatoes and bell peppers. I’m experimenting with other veggies … this is pretty crappy news for someone whose diet pretty much consists of only fruit and veggies and carbs (plus the one serving of red meat/eggs that I am supposed to eat each day).
I’m currently waiting for Tim to come home bearing a vanilla milkshake for my sore throat. And debating on ordering pad thai for dinner. I had taken a turkey out of the freezer last Sunday with the intent of making a big turkey dinner today but with being sick, I just don’t have the energy. So Thai take-out for dinner sounds might appealing right now!

I’ve been very lucky. I’ve gained 26 pounds total (as of 38 weeks). Which is in my healthy range (25-35 pounds) but is apparently not much compared to what others gains from what I’ve been hearing from friends who have babies.
I have only bought the bare minimum in maternity clothes this pregnancy. In fact, the only maternity clothes I bought were a hoodie and 2 pairs of jeans. The hoodie is actually still too big – but it is made of sweatshirt material, has pockets on each side and a wrap tie – i couldn’t resist! And the jeans are super low in the waist (not the type that go up to your boobs) and I’ll be able to get them taken in a bit and wear them post-pregnancy. I have 3 Bella Bands and wore them with all my dress pants to work every day. I can still zip the pants but the buttoning is far from happening! And apparently I wear baggy clothes, because all my shirts still fit (for the most part – some show too much belly for me to wear). I was even able to wear both my dress winter jacket and ski winter jacket all winter. And my feet did not swell so my shoes are all good. And I must admit, I did wear stilettos the entire pregnancy (outside walking was only in winter boots though for safety’s sake). My fingers did swell a bit – my rings are hard to get off now!
Nursing clothes are another story
I have bought 3 nursing bras, 5 nursing shirts and 2 nursing pj sets. The shirts should still fit post-nursing and the pj sets should also continue to fit. It made more sense to me to spend money on clothes that would continue to fit post-baby rather than buying anything that I didn’t really need during pregnancy. I bought the bras about 6 months ago when my boobs went up a size, so I have been wearing them for a while already and hopefully they will still fit when my milk comes in!
I just bought all the nursing clothes today (except for the bras) and I am super excited to have new clothes!

Tomorrow is my first day of maternity leave! I am so happy to have gone off work at 38 weeks because I still have a lot of baby preparation to do. And I definitely need some relaxation and alone time before baby arrives. Tim is off work at the end of this week, so I get both the alone time with myself, and hopefully some alone time with him before the baby comes.
I spent the weekend arranging the apartment – we had THREE couches in our living room, and now we have one. It makes a huge difference size wise! I still have a ton of organization to do but I finally feel that there is space for all the baby’s things. I also put together the pack’n play – the thing that is a play yard, bassinet and change table. I feel proud of myself now
I stoked up on groceries ($220 worth) and cleaned the fridge. I also made a big batch of potato salad – so delicious.
I also found out this Monday that Tim and I are moving to Moncton for 2 years as of July. Crazy! I’ll be there until my mat leave year is over, then baby and I are moving back to Hali and for me to return to work and then commute to Moncton each weekend. It’s only a 2.5 hour commute so it is totally doable. Tim can also do some rotations in his second year in Halifax so hopefully the time will fly by for all of us. I’m hoping to get to Moncton to scope out the town sometime after the baby arrives so we can decide on where to live, and then hopefully move there for June 1 so we can settle in and get used to the new area before Tim goes to work.
I should be posting more now as work wrap up is not taking all of my time anymore

Tim and I had a great photo shoot with Lynn on Sunday where she took so many amazing pictures. These are only a few of them … I really think she should do this professionally!
